Back!

By Mike, July 15, 2009 8:46 am

After training from Budapest to Vienna and then to Frankfurt, THEN flying from Frankfurt to Philly to Seattle, I can say that I am now home.

Vienna and Budapest were fantastic places to visit. The time didn’t let me get to Bratislava, but with talking with other travelers, all I missed was a castle. That gives me a reason to go back!

I will try and get the pictures up ASAP (at least the good ones).

Breaking News: Mike Registers for Triathlon

By Mike, July 7, 2009 12:45 pm

Well… everyone else who is going to Chelan is doing a Tri, so I thought I should give it a try too.

Now, I can be on the Support Crew and a Participant.

With that said, I am registered for the ChelanMan Sprint Triathlon on July 19th. The race is only an 800m swim, a 13.1 mile bike, and a 5k run. I have done those distances (at a minimum) with ease inidvidually in the past week; I don’t think stringing them together should be an issue.

So, there we go- that’s the breaking news. I’m not out to win it, just to complete it.

Now to continue my training, I’m off to Austria, Slovenia, and Hungary tomorrow.

Fourth of July Fotos

Well… taking better photos is one of my tasks, remember?

I was fooling around with some low-light setting. Some came out well, others, well… got deleted…

Mini Patio Project: Done

By Mike, July 5, 2009 6:40 pm

Well, I mentioned that I had a mini paver project on my task list. Well, I started working on it on Thursday by going to Home Depot, and coming up with a layout for some pavers.

I probably got about 25% done and then was on target to finish it off early Saturday afternoon. The thing was that I was a few pavers short because a couple had broken in the process. So I needed 3 to finish the job; I bought 4. I broke 2. UGH!

This morning, Kirsten and I went down to World Market and got a table and two chairs for the soon-to-be-completed patio. This afternoon after going to two different Home Depots to extend my initial plans, I finished the little patio and assembled the Bistro Set.

Here’s what it looks like…

  • Sell the box of used books & CDs in the garage
  • Work on my tan
  • Take stuff to Goodwill
  • Going to really learn how to take excellent pictures with the camera
  • Finish It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and start watching 30 Rock

Hello unemployment, remember me?

By Mike, June 30, 2009 1:43 pm

Wow… 7 months went by fast, huh?

It was the end of November when the powers that be at WaMu let me know that June 30th would be my last day with the bank.

I’ve had one of these days before, it was October 15, 2002 when Oracle (but at that time without notice), said that they didn’t need me anymore. That was the begining of a 13 month time in my life of traveling and well, just having fun.

This time will be a bit different. You know, I am 7 years older and wiser. But this time I have a wedding to help finish plan and a mortgage to pay; which kind of implores the need for a job. Continue reading 'Hello unemployment, remember me?'»
