Yeah… I thought I was prepared for the swim- I wasn’t.
Seriously, all of those guys just flailing around freaked me out. Throw on top of the fact that it took me about a quarter of a mile to get used to wearing that swim cap and I was behind from the start.
I need to be honest and admit that swimming twice to make sure that I could indeed swim a half mile isn’t true training. So who knows, maybe next year???
I covered the swim in 20 minutes, the bike in 42, and the run in 30. Yes… 30 minutes to run 5k.
Still, I managed to finish 12th in my age group- which is embarassing, but oh well. Next year…
Should that last statement end with an exclamation point or a question mark?
Regardless, I am so proud of Kirsten who completely rocked the HALF IRONMAN. That’s a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and a half marathon. WOW!
